Unsure if floating is for you? We’re convinced it is. Floating is not only an amazing tool and act of self-care, it’s also a very customizable experience.
Here are 7 reasons floating is for everyone:
1. There’s a Benefit (Or Many!) for You
Floating is the most ideal environment for the deepest states of relaxation and is incredibly transformational for chronic pain relief—but if that’s not enough, there’s an extensive list of other benefits that stem from this unique and soothing state—some of which include: reduced cortisol and lactic acid production, improved immune function, enhanced creativity and more balanced brain hemispheres!
What will your favorite benefits be? Floats are as unique as the individual—you’ll have to discover for yourself.
2. Open or Closed—the Choice is Yours
A common—and understandable concern for new floaters is “do I have to close the door?” The answer is: no! While the Float Pod door is easy to open and close, you are more than welcome to leave the door open—or partially open—for your float.
Because our in-room lights run on motion sensors, you can leave the door open and, if you choose, still relax free of light intrusion.
3. Life is Inherently Stressful
Today’s world is more connected and fast-pace then ever—it’s an exciting time, yet all the stimulus is overwhelming to the brain; most of us are in a constant state of at least some tension and stress.
Floating is the perfect technology to greet this technological age and counterbalance the continuous action modern life brings with it.
In this era of previously unparallelled connection it’s more beneficial than ever to allow ourselves the simple act of taking a true break from it all with the quality relaxation that comes with a float.
4. Let there Be Light—Or not
Your session is your time—we won’t go turning the lights off on you.
You have full control over your Float Pod’s light for your entire session—and you’ve got options!
Whether you prefer the fun color-changing setting, a solid hue, good old fashioned darkness—or prefer to change your light settings throughout—the choice will always be yours.
5. We’ve Got Tunes
For your first float, we recommend you experience our tried and true music setup. We’ll start you out with 10 minutes of peaceful music to help you relax, then allow you some quiet time. Finally, 5 minutes prior to the end of your float we will gently cue you back with more of our soothing tunes.
Once you’ve experienced your first float, we’re happy to customize the music to your liking. Think you might enjoy music the whole time, or only at the end? Just mention this the next time you’re in—we’re happy to adjust your settings.
Have a favorite relaxation playlist of your own you want to enjoy? Ask your Float Consultant about bringing in your own music for future sessions!
6. Come As You Are
Whether you’re having the roughest day ever or already floating on cloud nine, we welcome you with open arms—and look forward to centering your entire True REST experience around finding deeper relaxation and greater peace. It is our privilege to help ensure that you leave feeling better than you arrived.
Arrive a bit early and enjoy some of our organic herbal tea (also for sale!)—each variety is designed to help you relax before your session even begins.
Spend some time before your float in our tranquil Oasis lounge—the perfect space to breathe deep and settle in after your drive to the spa. If time permits, consider trying the oxygen bar before your session—it’s a great way to clear you head and enter your float feeling refreshed.
After your float, there’s no rush—we would love to have you stick around for a bit, and even encourage you to do so. Reflect on your float journey over more tea, or simply rehydrate and sit awhile. We would be honored to have you add your float experience to our guest journal or sketchbook while you’re basking in your post-float relaxation.
7. Doing “Nothing” is Far From Boring
One of the most unique aspects of floating is the environment’s ability to allow you to relax deeply—beyond boredom. While in the Float Pod the lack of stimulation from outside sources gives your brainwaves a chance to slow down; transitioning from the bustling beta waves we typically experience while awake to slower and smoother Theta waves—the same type of waves that occur in the blissful between-awake-and-asleep-stage.
You may find that your session seems, on the one hand, to have been of a great and restorative duration, yet on the other—to have whisked by! The ultra relaxed state indicative of theta wave production truly slows you down in a wonderful way.
Not only is this Theta state extraordinarily pleasant, it is also extremely therapeutic and restorative—and is even fertile ground for dream-like experiences, while awake.
